In the timeless city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and destiny. This is Netflix's most expensive project in Latin America to date, involving Colombian groups and indigenous communities constructing the series' props and sets. 100 years of soledad is one of the greatest peaks of literature in the Spanish language. His style is unmatched and his scope is beyond imagination. His characters are so well portrayed that any screenwriter would have no problem writing them for the screen. But an apparently insurmountable problem in adapting the novel was its length. Compressing a hundred years of family and nation history was an impossible task. Nearly 60 years after its publication, the novel has found a cinematic home on Netflix. Only streaming can do it justice and the first 2 episodes are really promising. Great photography, art direction and respect for the characters. The voice is essential to make García Márquez's brilliant prose come to life from time to time. The plot unfolds smoothly with richness and depth. I love it, and I was a little skeptical that GGM's magical world could translate to the screen. Wall, so far my book has been successful.
